Q: I installed this app but none of my devices show up. What gives?
A: Unlike some other apps for Vera, HomeWave can be fully configured to your taste. This does mean that you will have to add the devices yourself. After installing HomeWave, it will have no Vera devices and one control screen. Click the button for the control screen, go into edit mode , and start adding your devices and scenes
Q: Can I control multiple Veras with HomeWave?
A: Yes, you can. When you first start the app, it will add all Veras found on your LAN. Later you can add additional Veras from the Settings menu.
Q: Where can I set the temperature unit to be used, or my MiOS account details, or access the other settings?
A: The settings for the HomeWave app are no longer in the Settings app of your iPhone. From version 1.90, they are to be found in the app itself, under the button.
Q: My device doesn’t appear to be supported by HomeWave?
A: From version 1.41 onwards, HomeWave should support all devices and plugins that implement the uPnP services in use by Vera. Devices with additional services and/or unusual features may not be supported. In this case, send us an email with the details of your device, and we’ll include it.
If your device is not supported, but you are only interested in displaying values from it, try the “Multi Value Display” control (available in v1.41 and up). This will let you display up to 3 values from any device.
Q: Can HomeWave display the battery level of my device?
A: Yes, in several ways: If your device reports a battery level, this will be displayed by default in the corresponding control. You can display the battery level numerically by using a Multi Value control. And lastly, if you want to have an inactive control that only displays the battery level in an icon, create a “No Control” control, link it to your device, and the battery level icon will be shown.
Q: HomeWave wants permission to receive and display Push Notifications. How do I set this up, and how do I send notifications from Vera to my iPhone?
A: See the page on Push Notifications for full instructions.
Q: I switched HomeWave on my iPad from split screen mode to full screen mode (with sliding Home panel). My controls and background image now look weird, why?
A: When switching from split screen to full screen, your control panels will be resized to fill the larger available space, stretching each control a little. You can adjust the grid to fix this; in most cases your best course of action is to bring up the grid resize window and select “Reset grid”, then start over with setting the grid size (resetting the grid will never delete existing controls!).
Full screen control panels do not rotate, as opposed to the square control panels on an iPad in split-screen mode. This affects how a background image is displayed. To set the right orientation of a background image, delete the existing image, then hold the iPad in the preferred orientation, and add the background image again. It will remain right-side-up in that orientation.
Q: My Vera is in a separate subnet, and HomeWave keeps changing the IP address to an incorrect value. Help?
A: In this case, you need to enter your Vera’s IP address manually in the settings, and turn on the “Ignore MiOS IP address” option.
Q: I can’t find HomeWave in the App Store? (Switzerland)
A: In Switzerland, the HomeWave app is called CS Home.
Hello,
I would like to make excessive power consumption alerts on my Vera Lite, how do you do with HomeWave?
thank you in advance
Michel
Just downloaded and installed HomeWave on my new 10.5″ iPad Pro. I can lock and unlock my doors using HomeWave, and test push notifications come through on the iPad just fine.
The problem I have, is that your directions to send push notifications via VeraAlerts bare no relationship to what I see in my version of VeraAlerts! There is no Plugin Forwarding in the settings tab of VA, or anywhere else.
I also noticed that if I place Msg=” {message}” in the PluginArgs field in the particular VA scene, it does not stick (is deleted next time I look). The only way to keep anything in that field is to remove all quotes, or use single quotes.
I’m using UI5 on my Vera (it can’t be further upgraded) and v6.43 which is the latest version of VA that is supported by My Vera unit.
Since I know push notifications work as the test was successful, can you help me get it working?
Many thanks.
It would seem there’s a big gap between VeraAlerts versions 6 and 7. If you can provide a copy of version 6.43, I may be able to help getting it to work with HomeWave. Unfortunately I can’t locate older versions on mios.com or elsewhere.
Hi, Love love love the Homewave app. Been using it daily for a couple years. Recently I started using Siri more (and using it more in my car too). Any plans to add Siri support? So as I approach my home in my car I say “Siri, turn off home alarm and unlock front door”? Thanks for a fantastic app! Jeff-
Unfortunately Apple only allow Siri to be used in apps for specific use cases, such as ride sharing. Home automation isn’t one of them. If Apple will allow this in the future, I will incorporate it in the app
Can i copy (duplicate) is the pages complet?
I create one page and i wold like to copy, like us “copy device properties”.
This is possible: open the properties for the page (there’s a button for this on the toolbar when you are in Edit mode). In those properties are options to load and save that page.
Save your page, create a new page, open the properties for that page, then load the saved file into that page.
Hello! Three questions (running a VeraLite, VeraPlus, iPhone, iPad, etc all updated):
1) When setting up push notifications for a second device that will receive different notifications, how do I enter a second Push ID into the Homeware plugin on the Vera? I tried creating another instance of it but i have no option to do so. If i change the Push ID it overwrites.
2)When one is editing using the wrench, and a mistake is made or you simply do not want to make a change, how do you exit the edit mode without hitting save? Looking for a Cancel/Back. I have been using your app for years and still can’t figure that out.
3) I love the widget option you provided. Allows me easier access to those more used functions, however, I have noticed that controls like my front door, garage door, and other relays give me issues. The most common are:
a) states that the device has operated but didn’t (status change without state change)
b) device operates but status never changes
c) any scenes that are triggered by the operated device typically do not fire.
All of these problems do not exist on any of my simple on/off light controls.
It’s a long comment, thank you in advance. And also for adding the copy format option!
1) The idea is to use multiple instances of the Push plugin, but it seems that the plugin settings did not allow multiple instances. I’ve corrected the setting, please try creating another instance. (You may have to delete and reinstall the plugin)
2) There is no Cancel button. The next version will have one though!
3) Which widget option are you referring to, and are you using this in combination with a special type of device (non Z-wave relay board or similar)?
1) I’ll give this a shot in a bit. It looks like i need to uninstall the plugin but sadly, when i do that, and install it again, it will give me a new device ID which i’ll have to go through and fix my lump calls. Not a huge deal but will take more than a few mins.
2)sweet!
3)same issues on both the Garage Door plugin created by RTS (configured as a lock) and my actual lock (kwikset). Both behave in the manner i posted above. Both are zwave. the door lock is an actual lock whereas the garage door is triggering a relay. Hope that helps, I can provide more info if needed. BUT, I guess i probably shouldn’t be using locks on the widget anyway since it doesn’t require my door lock pin from the widget. Likely not a way to implement that is there? I’ll probably remove this and make it a monitor only from the widget since it does’t require authorization.
Sorry, one more thing. I would like to use a profile argument to set the default sound to none. This way i can get my normal push notifications without sound and save the actual sounds for the higher level alerts. Is this possible? Might require having an empty sound to actually play?
Thanks again for a great product and your support.
Bumping for the soundless notification option. Hopefully it is an easy addition.
Will be added in the next version!
Are you by any chance working? on allowing different sounds for push notifications in homewave. I use push notifications for my alarm, fire alarm and doorbell and all events sound the same causing for confusion … 🙂 is it the doorbell… no its the alarm 🙂
I’ll add a few in the next version
I saw back in November 2014 a user inquired as to the “mode” buttons (Home, Away, Night) being available. Is this still being looked into?
The current version supports the mode buttons. Add a “Multi button” control and link it to your Vera.
Does anyone know if Homewave is still in business?
It is! I’ve been unable to answer questions here for a bit though…
I have a z wave Yale deadbolt lock, and it communicates fine w Homewave, but every so often a solid blue dot appears to the upper left corner of the icon for the lock. What does that solid blue dot mean?
Thanks.
This dot corresponds to the status dot you see in the Vera web interface. Blue means communicaion in progress, Green means success, while Red means failure to communicate with the device.
To clarify re my previous post regarding the so-called “dreaded red cloud”. The app is not always stuck in the “red cloud” mode, but rather the red cloud icon appears very often and does not go away for some time (ie a couple of mins).
r.
Does this issue occur when on your local WiFi, or when connecting remotely? When this occurs if on WiFi, please check that your iPhone hasn’t beem disconnected from WiFi, and that your Vera is not rebooting (Try logging into the Vera web interface while the red cloud appears)
The “red cloud” acts the same regardless if we use an iphone or the ipad (which is dedicated to the app). And now, the moment, the app crashes on open. I’ve dumped the app and reloaded and it still crashes.
I’ve been experiencing the dreaded “red cloud” our our dedicated ipad controller as well as the iphone. I’ve tried to resolve but nothing seems to work. I’ve tried “Direct to Vera (noMios)” on and off… also the app just shuts off sometimes without notice. I’ve deleted and re-added the app several times. What am I missing?
Does this work with Vera Lite? Does it work with the Aeon Labs zwave water sensor?
It works fine with both. Make sure you trip the water sensor once; if it has never been tripped it will not show up in HomeWave (a known issue)
Is there any way to set the order that control screens appear with each swipe?
Not yet, but this is planned for a future update
Hi! I have saved configuration for 3 veras..2 of them works perfectly fine while 1 of them fails to load completely and the app keeps crashing every time i try to load this file..i have tried creating new configuration file for this vera..still unable to open the app every time i try loading config file for this vera..i have to then re-install app and work with other 2 vera. Pls help!
Do you have any thermostats with heating and cooling mode in your network, and are you using UI7?
I have same issue. I tried to change my thermostats to “cool” from “heat” and now the app crashes within a second or two of launching it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no different.
This will be fixed in the next release. In the meantime, if you experience crashes with HomeWave (and Vera on UI6 / UI7), proceed as follows:
– Set the phone to airplane mode so it won’t connect to Vera
– Start HomeWave and remove your thermostats
– Turn off airplane mode
You can try re-adding your thermostats after this. In some cases they will work correctly.
How do I setup across multiple devices. Do I have to set them up individually? Ipad to IPhone.
You can save the HomeWave configuration on one device to Dropbox (or save to the phone and extract the file using iTunes), then mail that file to the other device. If you have already installed HomeWave, opening that file will result in the saved configuration being loaded into the app. Do note that configurations for iPads generally do not format nicely on iPhones and vice versa.
Could you add function
– Adding IP camera both by IP address and Ddns address
HomeWave copies the cameras found on Vera; it is not possible to add them directly by IP nor DDNS
Hi. I cannot longer see “setup” button…even with “Hide Setup Button” toggle being off followed by the app restart. Please advise…Thank you
This may be because you have saved you config at some point as “locked”, then loaded that config again. If you mail me your config file (first clear the MiOS username / passwords, then save as a new config and mail me that!), I can unlock it.
Hi guys,
Great app! I created a home screen button and then resized the grid on the home screen causing that button to disappear but the resulting sub-screen that was created automatically remains. Is there anyway to delete a sub-screen when the home button is already deleted or gone?
Thanks in advance
Steve
The sub-screen should be gone if you completely quit (stop) the app and then restart it
Hi, will this work on an iPhone 6 plus? would be nice to use that extra screen space. if not are you going to update it? Many thanks.
The next version to be released (very soon) supports the extra screen space of the iPhone 6
Does Homewave connect via iPhone through the Vera server? If so, is there a way to use the app with my DynDns account to communicate directly with my Vera 3?
HomeWave does use the Vera servers, but if you have a direct connection to your Vera from your phone, you can enter the URL to your Vera in HomeWave Settings: http(s)://[addresss](:[port])/ Also turn on the “Direct to Vera” option. This will allow you to bypass the Vera servers.
How do you add the ‘Home, away, Night, Vacation Mode in Vera 7 to homewave?
The next version of HomeWave will support this with a separate control. As a workaround in the meantime, you can define scenes on your Vera and add buttons in HomeWave to invoke those scenes
Has this function been added. I just purchased Homewave off the iTunes app store. I found an Alarm Panel, but when I select it it seems to be looking to control a standalone mode control panel and does not tie into the VeraEdge Home, Away, Night, and Vacation Modes.
If it does can you tell me how to get it to work?
Right now, without this feature the app is of no use to me as I am only using the security features of VeraEdge.
Disregard previous question I found the answer. The four button option worked.
Are you going to patch the app to work with iOS 8.1? Ever since upgrading the app crashes when I open it. Please fix ASAP.
The app does work with version 8.1. Please try and start the app after putting the phone in Airplane mode, in case the crash is caused by the networking code. If that works, save your configuration and retrieve the config file from your phone using iTunes. Then delete and reinstall the app.
As of today my homewave app crashes immediately after opening. I’ve reset the network to no avail. I also did as you suggested and the app opened in Airplane mode so I deleted and reinstalled the app then just as soon as I loaded the config file it crashed again!
Dave, please mail me your config file and I will check.
I need to switch the display of the setpoint for a thermostat from cold to heat. I know there is a button to do that but can not seem to find it. It used to be under the General->Homwewave tab but that doesn’t exist anymore. Please help.
Hi,
Is there a way to password or pin protected the gui ?
Yes, if you set a PIN in Settings->General, the app will ask for the PIN whenever you try and change the GUI. You can also protect individual controls against unauthorized use with the PIN, by selecting “PIN” in the control’s properties. There is only one PIN for the entire app.
I’m occasionally seeing a little red or green dot appear in the upper left corner of a control button. Can’t seem to find any explanation of what this is. Care to share?
This dot corresponds to the status “Led” shown on devices in the Vera web interface. Green means OK, red means transmission failure, and blue (usually) means transmission in progress. You can hide this indicator in HomeWave by turning off the “Show Z-Wave status” option in the control’s properties.
I use the “garage door” app. It has a device # but I doesn’t show on Homewave.
Not all plugins are supported by HomeWave. You may want to check this discussion for a workaround: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,25709.0.html
How could I delete appl. Screens. There appears to be a default page called “downstairs” when the app is installed. Wish to delete this screen amongst others.
Open the Home Screen (iPad) or swith to the Home screen (iPhone), then go into edit mode. Highlight the “downstairs” button, and click the delete (X) button to remove it, and its associated screen.
Hi,
I can’t seem to figure out how to enlarge the size of the controls. I see the explanation about using the grid button; however, I have only been able to use that to segment the grid into smaller grids. How do I enlarge one of the boxes with the X inside. Sorry I realize this question may not be very clear, understandable. Thank you
I finally figured out. Thanx.

Considering buying this app and wondering if it works with the Lowes Iris hub and Z-Wave devices. Also, does it allow to set up timer programs for lights, lamps etc? Thanks.
Hi Paul, HomeWave only works with the Vera / MiCasaVerde Z-Wave hub. As far as I know, the Lowes Iris hub is based on a different platform, and this app will not work with it!
I have my Vera connected to my DSC alarm system and want to be able to remote arm/disarm my system through the HomeWave app. However, security concerns me and I want to ask how this is implemented. Can you PIN/pass protect certain functions in the app – or the app itself? Have you considered implementing a biometric authentication? That would speed up the login/auth process improving user experience and would also enable a more complex protection than just a 4-digit PIN.
You can protect the app with a PIN; there’s an option to set the PIN in the Info screen (press the little i button on the Home screen). The PIN will protect your app from editing. You can also protect most controls like switches, scenes, and also alarm panels by opening the control’s properties and setting the interaction from “Enabled” to “PIN”. The PIN will then be required to operate that control.
Biometric authentication through the fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5s is not possible (yet), as Apple have not released an API for it.
How to connect my homewave remotely. I am traveling and i can connect and see my veralite system via http://www.micasaverde.com site but my homewave is offline. Whats the setup that I can solve that?
Thanks
Silvio
Open the Settings app of your iPhone; you’ll find HomeWave amongst the applications listed there. In the Settings app you’ll be able to specify your MiOS credentials, allowing you to operate Vera via HomeWave from anywhere.
Thanks Admin , I need more Support . I open the settings but all the information that I have is Ip of my internal LAN. Do you have a tutorial to help me to setup the remote access ?
The settings should contain the IP of your Vera as well as the Device ID. If the device ID is not there, log on to https://cp.mios.com and your device will be listed aling with its ID.
Also fill in your MiOS username and password in the app settings, and you should have remote access.
Do I have to be on the local network to do the initial setup? I just downloaded the app and am not at home, but want to set it up. I put in my MIOS account information but it still shows a red wifi icon.
I inserted the information in the settings menu and everything is now ready.
Can I download the configuration built on my iPhone to my iPad? How?
You can. If you have a Dropbox account, save the file from HomeWave on your iPhone directly into Dropbox, then load it into HomeWave on your iPad.
If you do not have a Dropbox account, proceed as follows:
– In HomeWave (on your iPhone), go to the Info screen and save the configuration to your phone.\
– Connect the phone to your PC and start iTunes
– Extract the configuration file from the phone (refer to this page for exact instructions): http://www.intvelt.com/wordpress/loading-saving/
– Connect your iPad to the PC and put the copied configuration file into its HomeWave folder using iTunes.
– Open HomeWave on your iPad, and load the configuration
Hi
Lokaal werkt alles perfect, maar buitenshuis
krijg ik het niet voor elkaar.
ip adres is goed
device is goed
gebruiker+ ww is goed
url , https://cp.mios.com:80 ( poort later toegevoegd)
Wat doe ik verkeerd?
Gr Mark
setting up scenes but nothing shows up. help
Please make sure you are connected to your Vera, and try the Refresh button on the list of scenes.
Can Homewave control a Concord 4 security system through the vera plugin?
Hi Donnie, I have no experience with the Concord system and HomeWave, but if the Vera plugin exposes the Concord like other alarm systems, then it should work in HomeWave. If not, it should be easy to add support for it.
Is there away to run multiple Vera’s on the same home wave
Yes, see the FAQ. You can switch back and forth between multiple Veras easily, but you cannot control multiple Vera’s at once
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for your App, but i wonder that can it control DSC plugin now ( Arm/disarm..), and check status of DSC alarm panel?
Regards,
Anh
Hi Ahn, the current version of HomeWave is capable of controlling DSC alarms (and other alarm systems). Add an the “alarm panel” control element, and link it to ones of your alarm panel’s zones.
